Cobh

Cobh, situated on Great Island, is a charming and picturesque harbour town with a long and respected maritime history dating from the 17th century. It is a mere 30-minute drive from Cork city, with its international airport and ferry port. Catering for all ages, Cobh offers a wide variety of things to do and places to visit.

It was the last port of call of the Titanic on its ill-fated maiden voyage. There is a heritage walk, memorial, and museum all within walking distance of Bella Vista, enabling you to step back to in time to the day the Titanic last saw land. To this day, Cobh is regularly visited by the world’s super-liners.

Cobh offers various scenic walks passing by the colourful town buildings or in the unspoiled countryside. The East Cork Bird Trail winds around Great Island, Fota Island, and across to Carrigtwohill. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, a visit to East Cork at any time of the year will always be enjoyable and rewarding. The East Cork Bird Trail will guide you through what is undoubtedly one of the finest areas in Ireland for birdwatching.

For the energetic visitor, the town is ideally situated for such diverse activities as sailing, windsurfing and deep-sea angling. There are also a number of championship golf courses within thirty minutes drive.  Activities such as sailing, power-boating, wind surfing, rowing, hiking, and horse riding are available, as is angling for the professional and amateur alike.

For all the family, Cobh is located close to both Fota Wildlife Park and Trabolgan.
